My piece, "Passacaglia" for flute and cello will be premiered on Sunday in Hartford, and my only regret is that I can't be there. The one-hour project was a great experience. I have to disagree with Nolan's statement about not being able to pull out all the composer's tricks, though. I personally used every trick I could think of to keep the notes flowing, starting by choosing a form, the passacaglia, that allowed me simply to finish when time was up--for me a 2:40pm Central Time... then 20 mintues to edit and get the piece emailed off.
